Fat Grafting

Fat grafting is a surgical procedure where fat is harvested from your body, purified and immediately re-injected to restore volume loss.  Non-surgical techniques using dermal fillers (Juvéderm, Restylane, etc.) also help correct volume loss.  These products are not permanent and have to be repeated.  Fat is taken from your own body so there is no chance of an allergic reaction.  After the body absorbs a percentage of the fat (between 20 and 40 percent) the correction is considered permanent.

PROCEDURE

The necessary fat is taken from the abdomen or thigh and injected where volume has been lost.

RECOVERY

You will have a donor area and a treated area. Both will be swollen immediately after the procedure for several days but this will gradually subside.  Some patients also experience bruising.

Results are immediately noticeable with continued improvement over the next several weeks.
