As we age, we can develop deep wrinkles across the forehead. These wrinkles are caused by a combination of the frontalis muscle (raises the eyebrows to give a surprised expression) and the relaxation of skin that occurs with age. Heavy, drooping brows can cause you to look sad or angry all the time. A brow lift can help with a smoother, more youthful forehead, eyebrows, and upper eyelids as well as a happier appearance.
Brow lifts are a long lasting. Most people do not need to have this procedure a second time. However, with the natural aging process, results may be slightly altered with time.
Hairline Brow Lift – This procedure is performed though an incision placed at the front of the hairline. This lift is commonly used for patients that have very prominent foreheads and significant excess skin with deep wrinkles.
Coronal Brow Lift – This procedure is performed through an incision placed in the hear bearing portion of the scalp. The scar is camouflaged by the hair. This lift is commonly used for patients with significant excess skin and deep wrinkles that have shorter foreheads or receding hair lines.
Endoscopic Brow Lift – This procedure is performed through three small incisions that are hidden in the hair. A camera is then inserted that is used to guide two small instruments that are used to release the brows and allow them to be lifted. It is commonly used for patients with mild to moderate forehead wrinkles. It is the only option for patients with significant hair loss from balding.
The type of brow lift that is right for you will depend on your aesthetic goals and facial features.
Pain is not generally significant during recovery. Swelling and bruising are to be expected. Sleeping with your back and head elevated for the first week is required to reduce swelling. We recommend patients take two weeks off from work to rest and recover.
The goal of a brow lift is to improve your appearance by giving you a younger, more rested version of yourself.
